These four declarative actions are at a judge's disposal and are closely related, but they vary slightly in definition. One can typically identify this content by noting one of the four keywords below:
- Decision: a judgment regarding the right and liabilities of the court.
- Order :a directive by a court of law regarding a participant. A legal order is intended to be for or against a participant. A legal order contains the details of the decision provided by the judicial officer or the court on a petition or a hearing.
- Ruling: an official proclamation by a judge (or panel of judges) that defines the legal relationships between the parties to a hearing, a trial, an appeal or other court proceedings.
