A list of names, usually from  a specific  organizational unit, which details the attendance and leave of duty of personnel.

The specific individual who prepared the roster, and/or the overarching organization of the unit.

PUBLISHER SELECTION GUIDANCE

The overarching organization of the unit. This typically providing in the heading of document.

List -  compared to a roster, a list is more general.  A roster is a more particular kind of list in that it implies organizational relations between the list individual names , and it records attendance.
